After the events of the Black Night, Maxim Maresh chose Tolners and Vis as Rhy's new guards. They guarded Maxim before.[1]
Troublesome princes[]
In winter 1820, Tolners, along with Vis, Hastra, and Staff, waits for Rhy and Kell to return from their trip into the city. Tolners shows Kell the note Rhy left, telling everyone he was not kidnapped but simply out drinking with Kell, and says this was not "funny."
Despite Rhy's drunk state, neither Vis nor Tolners help Kell bring him to his chambers though; they only scold Kell for taking Rhy outside. Rhy then orders his guards to leave, and they reluctantly comply.[1]
The next day, Tolners and Vis guard Rhy in his room. Tolners eventually relieves Vis who was on the balcony with Rhy and inquires about the prince's wellbeing; Rhy does not answer. Tolners and Vis later accompany Rhy to the royal baths; they leave him alone when Tieren Serense arrives.[3]
