In October 1819, on behalf of the Dane twins, the woman approaches Kell Maresh in front of the Scorched Bone. She begs him to bring an envelope to her only living relative, Olivar, who is ill and dying. Because Olivar lives in Red London—their family was split when the doors between the four Londons were closed—the woman needs the help of an Antari to deliver the letter. She and Olivar paid Holland Vosijk to send one last letter from Olivar to the woman; now, she needs Kell to bring Olivar his final letter.

Kell is reluctant to help her, but the woman keeps pushing him and eventually simply hands him the envelope and a parcel containing his payment. She warns him not to open the parcel while he is still in White London and swiftly leaves before Kell can properly refuse.
